Adding a Twist to the Classic 4th of July Food

By  |

One of the hallmarks of a great catering company, such as Golden Corral, is its willingness and ability to work well with its client especially in changing the menu and tweaking classic dishes. For the Fourth of July, for example, you may want to change the classic American fare to become more contemporary in presentation while still retaining the overall tastes, flavors, and textures.  Here are a few twists that you can make for your upcoming Independence Day celebrations with your favorite caterer.

B.L.T. Bites

Burgers with lettuce and tomatoes are among the classics in American cuisine with Americans considering it as a staple in their homes and restaurants in different variations. For the Fourth of July, you can serve your guests BLT bites, which are hamburgers in miniature for easier (i.e., less messy) eating.

Fast-food Desserts

Why stop with actual hamburgers on your table when you can extend them into desserts? You can ask the catering company to make an array of desserts shaped into fast-food menu items, such as mango gelee resembling cheese, burgers made with moist chocolate cake and sliced kiwi, and French fries made with toasted pound cake.

Seasonal Truffles

If you have the budget for it, you can also order seasonal truffles that will add sumptuous flavors to your menu. You may want truffles, for example, made with white chocolate, strawberries, blueberries, and cream cheese. Your catering company should have a few suggestions about it, too.

Fried Chicken and Watermelon

What better way to cool down in summer than eating watermelon? You can play around with the fried chicken and watermelon combo during your catered event with canapés made from these two classics. Your caterer may also add a kick to the watermelon by soaking it in spicy raw ginger juice and honey with a topping of green chilis and Napa cabbage slaw.

Fried Corn

Of course, corn on the cob with just the right touch of butter is always a must on the 4th of July table. But you can also add a twist – baby corn fried with a tempura batter. Your guests will love the combination of crunch and slight sweetness.

Dirty Ice Cream

You obviously don’t want to serve unsafe ice cream to your guests but a reliable catering company should be able to find a local supplier of so-called dirty ice cream. Your guests will love the more natural and refreshing tastes of dirty ice cream in comparison with commercial ice cream. You may even request for more exotic flavors than commercial brands can offer.
The bottom line: You are the client and, thus, you have the right to make special requests. You must, however, make reasonable requests as even the best catering company cannot make miracles.
