History
In 1969, the first Ground Round restaurant was built and founded by Howard Johnson and gave a “neighborhood pub” ambience to the local community where families gather for a comfortable experience. It initially offered limited menu options of 12 items that primarily feature burgers in a basket, snacks and beer pitchers. The general atmosphere in the restaurant was casual and relaxed, so it became a big hit to many customers. In the early 1980s, the ambience evolved towards becoming more family-friendly until it has become a completely family-oriented restaurant where families dine more often.
