History

Dickey’s Barbeque Pit first opened its doors in Dallas, Texas in 1941 owned and operated by Travis Dickey. In 1967, his sons Roland and Travis Dickey, Jr. took over and the restaurant chain expanded across Dallas and Fort Worth in the next few decades. Although it remains a family owned business, it went into franchising in 1994 and other branches all over the US sprouted like mushrooms. In 2006, the new CEO is Rowland Dickey, Jr. There are currently over 520 Dickey’s branches all over the United States.

Dickey’s has been popular for retaining the same family secret recipe for barbeque since 1941. Their smoked meat is always a must try.
