History
Jim Hearn started the story of Hungry Howie in 1973 by converting a 1,000 square-foot hamburger store in Taylor, Michigan into a prosperous carry-out and delivery pizzeria. During that time, Steve Jackson was helping out in pizza delivery. Soon enough, he partnered with Jim Hearn and together they worked to bring about the success of Hungry Howie. They first opened the restaurant for franchise in 1982. Hungry Howie was awarded “Chain of the Year” by Pizza Today in 2005 and the company also opened its 500th location in that same year.
