History
In 1987, Fernando Duarte and Robert Brozin opened the first Nando’s restaurant. The duo purchased a takeaway shop selling chicken cooked in piri piri sauce and renamed it Nando’s. The chain of casual dining restaurants currently have approximately 1,000 locations worldwide.

Peri peri chicken is definitely a different animal, so to speak, than the usual chicken sold in fast-food restaurants. The peri peri sauce adds flavors, mainly spicy heat, which few other chicken marinades can equal. The uniqueness of its flavors quickly becomes addictive that many chicken dishes can pale in comparison.
Aside from the chicken, the catering menu also includes wings, salads, pitas, wraps, and burgers, perhaps even chicken livers, cataplana, and espetadas in certain locations. There are also sides, such as coleslaw, spicy rice, and corn on the cob. Better yet, you can order the finger food platters and mixed platters.
